Last night, I went searching for my super thick blanket. I did fine with a blanket that was a lot thinner than I usually use since I’m always cold, but I was shivering while taking a nap, so it was time. I was cozy.
But it was a rude reminder of what kind of weather I’m dealing with now back north. I was spoiled with SoCal’s heat in January that readjusting to cold (and possibility of snow) is hard. Too hard. I miss SoCal.
This will be Rydia’s first winter in an actual winter climate. She adjusted fairly well to the move as a whole, but we also moved in the spring, where it was starting to…well, not really warm up; it was 30 degrees when we landed in Michigan in April. So yeah.
Let’s keep in mind that I was born and raised in NYC, which is not too far away from where I am now1, so readjusting shouldn’t be an issue, but fuck. I feel like throwing on 50 layers right now. And it’s not even anywhere near as cold as it can get! If I had it my way, we’d still be in SoCal, because while the heat can be unbearable in the Valley, I at least was never cold.
Bring summer back! Or at least Mid-May weather. Fuck the cold.
