Seafood: the Piscean’s love food

seafood-the-pisceans-love-food

From NaBloPoMo:

If you knew that whatever you ate next would be your last meal, what would you want it to be?

Lobster. Shrimp. Clams. Crab. With LOTS of cocktail sauce and butter. And since I know that my seafood-hating fiance is gonna read this, he should know that this is my wish if it gets to that point. Can’t deny a 90-year-old her dying wish!

Why I write (alternatively named: why I decided to blog rather than write a novel)

A few years ago, I decided to delve into novel writing by participating in NaNoWriMo. The end product1 turned out to be Mirrored Worlds. I enjoyed writing it, and I’m sad that I never got a chance to finish it; it’s sitting at 13,000 words.2 I wanted to participate again last year, never did, but to be fair, this was still me trying to settle in California and also the start of what would be a huge life change (although I didn’t know it at the time).

This year, I’m saving myself the disappointment. I have zero ideas …

I’m bad at this.

im-bad-at-this

Okay, so a few days ago, Ronnie pointed out to me that I neglected my site. No. I did not neglect it per se, but outside of motherly things, I have nothing interesting to say. I’m not exactly an interesting person. Then I pointed out to him that he isn’t much better in that department.

But anyways, since I’m not an interesting person, I’ll talk about a more interesting person in my life. So you know that saying about wanting kids to shut up now that they know how to talk? Well, Rydia has this lovely idea of cooing at 1am in the morning when she should be sleeping. Luckily for me, …

So it does get better…

so-it-does-get-better

Rydia’s gonna be 2 months tomorrow, and I survived… again! Barely, but it’s getting better. So far, she’s:

finally gotten used to baths. She doesn’t scream like I’m committing a crime anymore. She still hates getting her hair washed though.
Sleeps through the night 85% of the time. “Sleeping through the night” consists of her going to bed at 2am, and waking up at about 9am. That’s good enough for me.
She almost got poop on her grandma’s finger1
She reaches for toys now.
She shows favor for her left hand when reaching. Too soon to tell, but I find it hilarious.
She has a …

Rydia is now 6 weeks old and I don’t think I can get much lower than this. Yes, I knew that sleep deprivation was part of the deal, but is it supposed to be this bad?

I’ve always suffered from insomnia, so most of my nights I’m up until 3-4 am, then I tend to take a short nap in the afternoon. If I’m lucky, I will get an 8-hour stretch of sleep. And I never sleep in past 10am. Well, on top of insomnia, I haven’t seen more than 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Rydia eats every 3 hours, so that’s about how long I have. She also tends to not sleep until 6am …

Hoi thar.

namari.org was created with new beginnings in mind. This is the story of a New Yorker toughing it out in the wild palm-tree infested, no snow territory of California with her super dorky gamer addict fiance. Her name is Nat Marie, and this is her story; told with sarcasm and caffeine.
